Press Release: OFT appointed UK liaison office for consumer protection co-operation regulation

The UK Office of Fair Trading (OFT) welcomed the news, on 10 January 2006, that it had been designated as the Single Liaison Office for the new European Consumer Protection Co-operation Regulation (CPC). The OFT was designated as both the Single Liaison Office within the UK and as a Competent Authority (CA) under the regulation. CA's are the public authorities responsible for the enforcement of the laws within the CPC scope. The mutual assistance provisions of the CPC are due to come into force on 29 December 2006.
