Negotiators from the European Parliament (EP) and the Council of the European Union reached a provisional agreement on the EU's budget for 2015 and the means to settle 2014’s most urgent unpaid bills on the 9 December 2014. The deal still needed to be endorsed both by the full EP and the Council. For payments, Members of the EP secured €4.8bn more to pay bills for 2014-2015. For 2015, the negotiators agreed to a compromise of €145.3bn in commitments and €141.2bn in payments. The European Parliament formally approved the draft EU budget for 2015 and a top-up of the 2014 on 17 December 2014. |
