Press Release: Ports policy: the dialogue goes on

Jacques Barrot, Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Transport attended the annual meeting of the Association for the Development of French Ports held in Rouen, 29 September 2006. It was the perfect opportunity to present European ports policy in more detail and to focus attention on the challenges facing the sector, namely growth, consolidation and integrated logistics. To address these challenges, a port policy at European level must aim to promote investments, sustainable development as well as quality jobs in the sector.
