European Commission President José Manuel Barroso offered the European Parliament to co-operate closely to make a contribution during the period of reflection, following the rejection of the Constitutional Treaty in France and the Netherlands earlier this year. In a letter to President Borrell of the European Parliament, sent on 21 September, President Barroso offered a close co-operation between the two institutions. He was planning to attend the 'Conference of Presidents' of the European Parliament on 28 September 2005 in Strasbourg to debrief the Presidents of the political groups in the European Parliament on the Commission's seminar of 20 September. |
