Preview of an international renewable energy conference hosted by the Chinese Government on 7-8 November 2005 in Beijing. The event was to focus on how to make the use of energy sources such as sun, wind and water more attractive. The European Commissioner for the Environment, Stavros Dimas, intended to contribute to strengthening international co-operation in this sector, which was a key for achieving a sustainable energy future. While in China, Commissioner Dimas was also planning to discuss international climate change policy and EU-China environmental co-operation with the Chinese government. |
