On 28 March 2001 an informal meeting of senior trade officials from twenty key countries took place in Geneva. The purpose of the meeting was to assess prospects for a successful 4th World Trade Organisation (WTO) Ministerial Conference in Doha, Qatar (scheduled for November 2001) and the question of a new Trade Round.
