Press Release: September 2004: Small deterioration of economic sentiment in September, after improvement in August

The economic sentiment indicator (ESI) for the EU worsened slightly in September 2004 following its improvement in August. In September it stands at 103.6, 0.5 points lower than in August but 1.1 points higher than in July. In the euro area, the indicator reached a value of 100.7 in September, i.e. 0.2 points below the August value and 0.9 point above the July value.
