In this report published on 22 September, 2009, the European Court of Auditors analysed the European Commission’s management of LIFE-Nature projects in terms of the sustainability of their results. LIFE-Nature co-finances projects in the Member States, mainly in relation to Natura 2000 sites, in favour of the conservation of species and habitats. The management of LIFE III Nature projects (2000-2006) and the selection procedure for the new LIFE+ (2007-2013) were audited. The observations formulated remain important for the Commission’s management since the issues addressed also concern the new LIFE+ projects. The main conclusions and recommendations of the report will be presented to the press by Mr Kikis Kazamias, Member of the European Court of Auditors. |
