The European Commission has decided not to raise any objections under EC Treaty state aid rules to the financial support of €61 million granted by France to the LOwCO2MOTION research and development (R&D) programme. LOwCO2MOTION is being implemented by a consortium of eight partners, headed by the car supplier Valeo. The purpose of the programme is to introduce innovative products to improve engine efficiency and economise on fuel consumption when vehicles brake and stop. The programme's target of reducing fuel consumption by up to 30% will also contribute to efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. |
