Press Release: Statement by the Spokesperson on the agreement reached within the Trilateral Contact Group on the withdrawal of weapons in eastern Ukraine

The European Union welcomed as a 'positive step forward' the agreement reached on 30 September 2015 between Ukraine's governmanet and rebels from the country's eastern region, to withdraw smaller weapons from the buffer zone splitting rebel-held lands from the rest of Ukraine.

A summit of the Normandy group was scheduled to take place on 2 October 2015 in Paris.
