The Eurogroup reappointed Jeroen Dijsselbloem as its President on the 13 July 2015 for the following 2.5 years. This decision was unanimously supported by all Eurogroup members.

Spain's finance minister Luis de Guindos was also in the run. His defeat was seen as hitting the country's deteriorating influence in the European Union, reportedly at its lowest since Spain joining the EU in 1986.
