Press Release: Status of third-country nationals who are long-term residents

On 13.3.01, the European Commission adopted a draft Directive concerning the status of third-country nationals who are long-term residents. This is the Commission's second legislative proposal in the field of legal immigration of third-country nationals; the first, a draft Directive making provision for family reunification, was adopted in December 1999.
