Press Release: Telecommunications: Commission welcomes the Italian regulator’s decision to abandon the proposal to regulate value-added services

The Italian telecoms regulator, AGCOM, informed the Commission on 16 March 2007 that it is withdrawing its draft measure relating to the market for value-added services (including directory assistance services) on mobile networks. In its letter of 8 February 2007 to AGCOM the Commission expressed doubts over AGCOM's market definition and the existence of competition problems which would harm consumers or call for ex-ante regulation.
