Press Release: The Commission and the International Atomic Energy Agency meet to reinforce mutual cooperation

The High Level Liaison Committee for the implementation of nuclear safeguards between the European Commission and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) met on 18 January 2007 in Vienna to discuss nuclear safeguards. Parties reviewed principal matters in relation to the implementation of safeguards in the EU and agreed to strengthen their cooperation on the basis of their respective roles. This will reinforce the effectiveness of mutual action, thereby contributing to the highest standards of nuclear safety, security and non-proliferation and help such high standards to be observed internationally.
