Press Release: UK to issue European carbon allowances

The UK Government plans to issue EU ETS Phase II carbon allowances once European and Global registry systems are linked and operational. The European Commission and UNFCCC, on 3 October 2008, confirmed that the work required to establish this connection would start on 6 October 2008 and would take at least ten days.
