The European Commission and the Member States have started to implement the new European policy in the field of youth, as proposed in last November's White Paper and approved by the Ministers at the end of May 2002. The first priority theme is improvement of young people's participation. The first two examples of the new approach are the 'Youth 2002' Conference, which took place in Copenhagen in July 2002 and the Youth Convention, which was held in Brussels from 9-14 July 2002. In 2003, a programme of work on the participation of young Europeans in political and social life will be presented. |
