Article reports that France and Germany are under pressure to lift troop deployments in Afghanistan, December 2009, following decisions by the Obama administration and several Nato powers and US allies to commit to a major troop uplift.
But few countries in Europe were rushing to fill the void. Germany and France made it clear that they wanted to wait until the Afghanistan conference at the end of January 2010 in London.
