On the 23-24 October 2018 the King and Queen of The Netherlands formally visited the United Kingdom including visits to the UK Queen, Downing Street and Parliament.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May used the occasion to discuss a new era of defence and security cooperation with the Dutch post-Brexit. She highlighted that defence and security cooperation with The Netherlands both bilaterally and through NATO was going from strength to strength, as the UK continued to negotiate a deep security partnership with the EU post-Brexit.

The UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt also used the opportunity to meet with his Dutch counterpart Stef Blok.
