Are Euro-parliamentarians getting worried about their teeth? Last July,

Irish quaestor Mark Killilea suggested that the space allocated to a flower shop in the Parliament's new Brussels building should instead house a dental practice.

In January, the quaestors reminded MEPs that dental implants were not refundable under the institution's health scheme, but added that they were considering whether to change the rules so that they could be.

The coincidence raises some interesting questions which were put by Dutch Green MEP Nel van Dijk to Parliament President Jose Maria Gil-Robles last November, but which have still not been answered.

Will the space be used for a dental practice? If so, will it be a commercial one paying rent or will it be a Parliament service?

How will the tender be organised? Is there a shortage of dentists in Brussels? Have staff and MEPs been asked if they really need a dentist?
