Prod for Serbia on EU membership

Serbia could become a candidate for European Union membership as soon as 2009 – but only by gaining a nod of approval from United Nations war crimes prosecutors and accelerating judicial and economic reforms, the European Commission said in its Enlargement Strategy and Progress Report 2008 for Serbia.
