Proposal presented on 27 September 2019 by the European Commission establishing the position to be taken on behalf of the Union regarding an amendment to Protocol 31 to the EEA Agreement, on cooperation in specific fields outside the four freedoms.
The EEA Joint Committee aims to amend Protocol 31 to the EEA Agreement in order to allow the EEA EFTA States (in this case Norway and Iceland) to collaborate with the EU in order to fulfil their respective greenhouse gas emission reduction targets for 2030, and to do so within the EEA framework.
