Summary:

Proposal for a Decision tabled by the European Commission on 29 February 2024, mobilising the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) in response to application EGF/2023/004 DK Danish Crown.

Further information:

The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) aims to provide support for workers made redundant and self-employed persons whose activity has ceased as a result of major structural changes in world trade patterns due to globalisation, as a result of a continuation of the global financial and economic crisis, or as a result of a new global financial and economic crisis, and to assist them with their reintegration into the labour market.

Denmark submitted an application for a financial contribution from the EGF in December 2023, seeking to address displacements in Danish Crown, as well as in suppliers and downstream producers in the meat sector. Following an assessment of this application, the European Commission concluded that the conditions for awarding a financial contribution from the EGF had been met.

On 29 February 2024, the Commission adopted a draft Decision to allocate a financial contribution of around €1.9 million in respect of the application submitted by the Danish authorities.
