The Customs Control Equipment Instrument aims to support Member States of the European Union (EU) in purchasing, maintaining and replacing state-of-the-art customs equipment. The instrument is directed at supporting the implementation of the Customs Union Action Plan.
This initiative was adopted by the European Commission on 12 June 2018, in the framework of the proposals for the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2021-2027. An informal agreement between the co-legislators on a compromise text was reached on 16 March 2021. The Act was signed by the c0-legislators on 24 June and published in the Official Journal on 2 July 2021.
