Summary: Regulation (EU) 2021/1077 - formally adopted by the European Union on 24 June 2021 - establishing a Customs Control Equipment Instrument as part of the Integrated Border Management Fund, for the period 2021-2027. Further information: The Customs Control Equipment Instrument aims to support Member States of the European Union (EU) in purchasing, maintaining and replacing state-of-the-art customs equipment. The objectives include the improvement of customs performance while helping EU customs authorities to act as one single entity. The instrument is directed at supporting the implementation of the Customs Union Action Plan. This initiative was adopted by the European Commission on 12 June 2018, in the framework of the proposals for the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2021-2027. An informal agreement between the co-legislators on a compromise text was reached on 16 March 2021. The Act was signed by the c0-legislators on 24 June and published in the Official Journal on 2 July 2021. |
