Putting innovation into the spotlight

National Reform Programmes, submitted by each Member State last autumn, form the basis of efforts to make a reality of the relaunched Lisbon Strategy. Measures to encourage innovation are at the heart of these, and Françoise Le Bail, Deputy Director-General of the Commission’s Enterprise and Industry DG, discusses the innovation aspects of the programmes overall. She
has particular responsibility for innovation activities, as well as advancing the interests of smaller firms in her role as the EU’s SME Envoy.
