Summary:

A new set of rules and legislation governing the 2014-2020 round of EU investments came into force in December 2013. This legislative package set down common rules for the 'European Structural and Investment Funds' (ESIF), ensuring a more strategic and complementary use of different sources of EU funding, to combine and simplify their use for a better impact on growth and jobs.

As of November 2014, the European Commission adopted 39 programmes. Negotiations continued to finalise the remaining programmes to ensure that the programmes made maximum contribution to growth and jobs. The new deadline for submitting the programmes was set on 24 November 2014. The overall aim was to adopt all programmes by the summer of 2015.
