The Quarterly Report on the Euro Area is intended to contribute to a better understanding of economic developments in the euro area and to improve the quality of the public debate surrounding the area's economic policy. This edition is divided into 3 parts. The first section presents empirical evidence on the shock absorption capacity of the different channels of cross-border risk sharing in the euro area. The second section looks at the link between financial and macroeconomic developments in the euro area. The last section discusses the relationship between consumer confidence and consumption, and reviews the evidence of consumer confidence spillovers between euro area countries.
