Slovenians went to the polls on the 6 June 2010 for a referendum on their government’s 2009 border deal with Croatia, amid fears that a ‘no’ vote could foil the neighbouring state’s imminent accession to the European Union. The referendum asked the people of Slovenia whether an international tribunal should decide the border dispute between Slovenia and Croatia. The results showed a small majority for international arbitration.
