Reform of the European Union’s system of own resources

The resolution calls for strengthening the existing own resources and progressively introducing new own resources. These could be based on a revised VAt resource, a share of corporate tax revenue, a financial transaction tax, a digital sector tax or environmental taxes.

Background information:

The document builds on the conclusions of the report produced by the High Level Group on Own Resources. It was adopted together with another resolution setting out the Parliament's position on expenditure for the post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framrwork.
