Reforming technical vocational education and training in the Middle East and North Africa: Experiences and challenges

This report is the result of a joint project undertaken by the European Training Foundation's (ETF) Mediterranean Department and the World Bank's Human Development Department for the Middle East and North Africa. With reference to technical and vocational education and training (TVET), it summarises the key findings from detailed country reviews of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia. However, its relevance goes beyond these countries, as similar issues arise in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region as well. In September 2006, the main conclusions of this report were debated at a joint conference held in Cairo, Egypt, by the World Bank and the European Training Foundation.
