Rehn rebukes Dublin over bid to defer debt / Dublin confident of ECB deal to defer payment

The European Commission dismissed in March 2012 a request by Ireland to defer a €3.1bn payment related to its banking debt, ahead of, and despite, the potentially difficult Irish referendum on the European Union’s fiscal compact later in 2012.
