Political relations between Panama and the European Union (EU) take place within the framework of the EU-Central America Association Agreement signed on the 29 June 2012. This wide-ranging and ambitious agreement is based on three priorities: political dialogue, cooperation and the establishment of a free trade area.

In Economics Matters, Panama and the EU have developed their economic relations gradually, by strengthening trade and their commitment to promoting access for Panamanian and Central American goods to European markets. Panama is member of the Generalised Scheme of Preferences which reduce to custom barriers for its exportation in the European Union.

In 2016, relations between the European Union and Panama were mark by the Panama Papers Scandal.

The European Union intervened in Panama thanks to the Humanitarian Aid, on one hand in 2007 and 2010 to prevent the bad consequences of Natural Disaster and on the other hand thanks to Aid Package in April 2007 and September 2007.
