Following the meeting, the High Representative Federica Mogherini highlighted the work which has been developed related to the Western Balkans region and EU enlargement. This has been done through encouraging stability and reconciliation in the area in the framework of the Berlin Process, of which Croatia is a member.

The meetinga agenda also included a discussion on the crisis in Syria and the post-conflict scenario in the aftermath of the Brussels Conference held in April 2017 and a discussion on the crisis in the Gulf region and tthe common approach adopted by the European Union. Both sides also discussed the situation relating to migration through the Central Mediterranean route, the situation in Libya, the Partnership with Africa, among other topics.

Finally, there were discussions on the initial preparations for Croatia's first rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2020.

The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Policy met with Croatia's Foreign Affairs Minister on 21 July 2017 as part of her visit to the country.
