For the President of the European Council, Herman Von Rompuy, the 22 July 2014's meeting between President Medina and President Martelly sent an important signal that the two countries were committed to strengthening their relations and solving problems in a spirit of dialogue and compromise.

The European Union is honoured to have been invited to participate in the High Level Binational Dialogue as an active and an engaged observer.
