Summary:

The European Commission adopted on 8 May 2018 a Report assessing progress towards the implementation of the Barcelona objectives, which relate to the availability of high quality and affordable childcare facilities for pre-school children.

Further information:

In 2002 at its summit held in Barcelona, the European Council recognised the importance of availability, accessibility and affordability of high quality childcare facilities for women and men with caring responsibilities, to participate in the labour market. The targets were established then and progress is assessed since the previous Report was released.
