Summary: The European Commission released on 29 June 2017 a report putting forward recommendations on changes to the establishing Regulation of the EU Agency for Large-scale IT Systems in the area of freedom, security and justice (eu-LISA). Further information: eu-LISA began operations on 1 December 2012. The Commission carried out the first evaluation of the Agency which covered the period from December 2012 to September 2015. On the basis of the evaluation, the Commission issued recommendations regarding changes to the Regulation. The report covers the outcome of the evaluation, as presented in the annexed Commission Staff Working Document on the evaluation of eu-LISA, and the external evaluation report. The report puts the evaluation and the role of the Agency in a broader perspective and takes into account further factual, legal and policy developments. This document was released on the same day as a proposal revising the mandate of this Agency. |
