...after months of wrangling over top-up money for the fourth framework programme for research and development. The conciliation committee struck a deal which will see an extra 115 million ecu added to the current 11.68-billion-ecu funding for 1994-1998. The money will be used to fund research into BSE, landmines and renewable energy.
