Rescue talks add further delays to A400M

Article reports that the seven partner nations behind the A400M military transport aircraft have agreed to a further month-long delay in order to discuss ways of rescuing the overdue and over-budget programme, June 2009.

This followed a meeting in Seville between the defence ministers of the UK, Spain, Turkey, Germany, France, Belgium and Luxembourg and was intended to resolve months of convoluted and, at times, contentious arguments about the future of the project.

The failure of one of Europe’s largest collaborative programmes would be a political blow to joint defence procurement in Europe.
