Polymers and composite rose to new challenges

Summary:

This new edition of the Research*EU magazine discusses some of the latest plastic- and composite related findings under FP7. It includes four interviews on four different topics which illustrate the tremendous potential of these materials: a new type of bio-based packaging for food products, a composite that enables the production of cheaper bathroom and kitchen furniture without compromising on quality, a new type of lens for people suffering from presbyopia, and new research aiming to bring innovation based on organic semiconductors a step forward.

In addition to the usual thematic sections, this magazine welcomes for the first time a section dedicated to physics and mathematics. This new section will be featured every three months, in rotation with the ‘Space’ and ‘Food and agriculture’ sections.
