Employment lawyers in the UK warned in November 2007 that employers and older employees will face more than a year of legal uncertainty as they are forced to wait for a key European Court of Justice ruling on the compulsory retirement age. The Employment Tribunals Service has put all British retirement age discrimination cases on hold pending the European Court of Justice ruling, which is not expected until at least 2009.
