Road transport policy. Open roads across Europe

Road transport is critical for Europe, for our economy, for our jobs and for our well-being. Regardless of how much other modes of transport develop, including those perceived as more environmentally friendly, there will always be a requirement for high-quality road freight and passenger transport services, whether stand-alone or as part of a multimodal transport chain. The EU aims to create the conditions in which Europe’s road transport market operates efficiently and safely, and the policies it is implementing are set out in this brochure.
