An emergency €300m Italian government loan to the loss-making airline Alitalia, April 2008, is to be investigated by the European Commission, which could order it to be repaid. Ryanair, the Irish low-cost carrier, said on the 24 April 2008 it would file a complaint about the deal, which would trigger a commission probe. Any state aid must be vetted and approved by Brussels. |
