Sarkozy raises China currency concerns / China rejects Sarkozy calls on renminbi

On a visit to China, November 2007, French President Nicolas Sarkozy spelled out the European Union's growing concern about China's exchange rate and trade policies, saying balanced international relations depend on a fair rate for the renminbi.

China's leaders met Mr Sarkozy 26 November 2007 and a delegation of the eurozone's three senior policymakers 27 November 2007, before staging an EU-China summit on 28 November 2007 with José Manuel Barroso, the European Commission President.
