Report of the first full press conference at the Elysée Palace given by President Nicolas Sarkozy, 8 January 2008, following his election as President in 2007. The press session was intended to set out a new and coherent rubric for his wide-ranging reform programme after a string of opinion polls suggested the public were losing faith in his promise to transform France.
