The Austrian Chancellor, Wolfgang Schüssel, has hit back at rightwing critics of the European Union's planned eastward enlargement, saying it would increase, not decrease, security for EU citizens. He rejected claims that the proposed expansion could cause problems caused by uncontrolled migration.
