In Austria's Parliamentary Election on 24 November 2002 the People's Party of Chancellor, Wolfgang Schüssel, won. With 42.3% of the vote, the Party emerged as the largest party in more than 30 years. Jorg Haider's Freedom Party's share of the vote fell by two-thirds to 10.2%.
