Second scalp in Barroso team cull

Latvia's designated European Commissioner, Ingrida Udre, was sacked by her Government on 2 November 2004 as part of a reorganisation of José Manuel Barroso's incoming European Commission. Ms Udre's sacking follows the resignation of Italy's proposed Commissioner, Rocco Buttiglione. The new Latvian nominee is Andris Piebalgs.
