The mountain regions of Europe cover about 50% of the European continent and fulfil some very important functions of general interest, particularly of an environmental, economic, social, political and cultural nature. The speeches at this seminar are above all centred on the need to adopt an international multilateral convention for the sustainable development of mountain regions.
