MEPs have agreed to Commission plans to reduce value-added tax (VAT) on those products, but only when they are for personal use. They have asked the Commission to order a study into the impact of VAT rates on jobs. At the moment, traders from high-VAT countries often travel to low-VAT countries to buy their plants and flowers, a practice which the EU now hopes to stop.
