Sign of rethink as ageing Spain plant reprieved

Spain’s Socialist government, yielding to intense pressure from electricity companies, local authorities and employees at risk of redundancy, granted a four-year reprieve to the country’s oldest commercial nuclear power plant in July 2009, despite an election promise to start winding down the nuclear industry.
