The European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development signed on 17 October 2016 an agreement with Cape Verde's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Communities providing €50 million to the country until 2020. The sum was meant to be directed towards poverty reduction and economic competitiveness for the period between 2014-2020. Since November 2007, the relations between Cape Verde and the European Union were governed by the EU-Cape Verde Special Partnership. |
